Hide & Seek

from $500.00

I captured this as a snapshot as I was ascending the endless row of steps toward the Chureito Pagoda to get that Iconic shot. But it took me a lot longer than it should have to get to the top because I couldn't stop turning around to stare in awe at the moving landscape before me. Visiting Mount Fuji was the whole purpose of my Japan Itinerary. Though I am grateful for the images I snapped throughout the entire journey, my purpose for being here was to finally visit the landscape I had so often dreamed about ever since I first saw pictures of Japan in a National Geographic Magazine as a child.

This image represents a more subdued side of Mt. Fuji as it glows in the magenta hues of wet dawn about twenty minutes before sunrise. We can appreciate the frustration and playfulness of Fujisan's fickle nature as it spends most of its days aggravating tourists as it weaves in and out of the clouds. The lone truck on the highway indicates the rest of the world still slumbers. Maybe Fuji isn't such a brat after all. Maybe he's just shy.

The perfect print for someone who marches to the beat of their drum and doesn't care about pleasing others. Or you know...someone who loves beautiful mountainscapes and views of Japan.
